Above 'Level 1 Caving' is in predominantly horizontal systems with trips
suitable for all ages and abilities. We start the day with a look at guides
& surveys then equip you with helmets, lamps, oversuit and boots
before setting off underground to explore a variety of cave passages under expert
instruction.

Above Level II style caving takes place in more vertical cave systems
(Potholes)

Vertical Systems / Intermediate group days. 1:6

For more challenging potholes/caves, the use of abseil descent underground is employed.
The return journey back to the surface is by rope protected ladder climbing. This type of
day offers a superb variety of challenges and some prior training above ground is usually
beneficial to all parties.

Classic Caving / Yorkshire Dales and Derbyshire Peak. 1:4
Who is it for?
Designed for cavers looking to get down some major systems
Applicants should be S.R.T. proficient and expect a physically demanding day. As usual
an ethos of informal but practical teaching will thread into the day, topics such as
rigging, self-help, and flooding will arise naturally and our aim is to produce more
knowledgeable and safety conscious clients.
Systems on the list in Yorkshire : Gaping Ghyll, Juniper Gulf, Ireby Fell cavern,
Simpsons pot, Allum pot
In the Peak District, we have access to all the better known venues. Privileged local
knowledge ensures of some first rate alternatives to traditional routes.

Expedition Caving
Presently we operate overseas from Spain and France. The Vercor in the French Alps, is
perhaps the Mecca of alpine caving! Two styles of course operate using this area.
The first style of course is the Classic Vercor, a sound introduction to
foreign caving. Warming up in some smaller systems before selecting a major caving project
towards the end of the week. This has proved to be a successful formula over the last two
years. The course includes a full weekend of intensive training in expedition skills,
S.R.T rigging and rescue.
The second type of course operating out of France is aimed at bringing together
experienced cavers with specific expedition objectives.

Majorca.
Majorca is our second overseas arena and this course follows the same format as
Classic Vercor. Our base in the north of the island allows easy access to some
of the most beautiful and spectacular caves in Europe. Once again, elements of technical
training will be threaded informally into the holiday.
Training
Any specific areas of training are available upon request. Popular topics such as
rigging, rescue, S.R.T and the N.C.A s Local Cave and Mine Leader Award (L.C.M.L.A) may be booked via
Acclimbatize. The latter is the recognised qualification for those people wishing to
satisfy an employer of their competence to safely lead groups of novices underground.
